Programmmes for Intervention
We provide language and literacy support to our students who require the additional boost.
Learning Support Programme (LSP) – Primary 1 and 2
The LSP provides additional support for students with weak literacy skills. Students attend lessons one period a day in small groups, and are taught by specially trained school teachers using strategies that are specifically designed to improve their reading ability.
Reading Remediation Programme (RRP) – Primary 3
The RRP caters to supporting P3 students who still face difficulties in reading in the English Language despite having been supported through the LSP programme in their earlier years. This specially designed programme introduced a range of different coping strategies for reading comprehension which will enable them to better manage their daily learning.
School Dyslexic Remediation (SDR) – Primary 3 and 4
The MOE’s School-based Dyslexia Remediation programme is a two-year intervention programme catered exclusively for Primary 3 and 4 students. These students are identified for support through a systematic screening process for dyslexia that is conducted at the end of Primary 2 by trained specialists. This after school programme is conducted in small groups by a trained school teacher using the remediation curriculum specifically designed by MOE Reading Specialists.
The Read and Shine Programme (P1-P6)
In this programme, students will listen to a story online while form teachers
are taking their attendance and temperature. The aims of this programme
include the following:
- Ignite pupils’ passion in reading
- Enhance pupils’ listening skills
- Expose pupils to the different genres (multiliteracies)
- Showcase the different styles of reading aloud to pupils
- Encourage pupils to come early to listen to stories
Little Red Dot and The Straits Times Online (Upper Primary)
The Little Red Dot is a special publication by The Straits Times specially
catered for students. Students are exposed to current affairs and world
events that allow for discussion in the classroom. These discussions encourage
practical application of knowledge learned in real contexts. This programme
also encourages students to read widely for knowledge and for enjoyment.
P3 English Enrichment Programme: Speech and Drama
The school runs a Speech and Drama enrichment programme for selected Primary 3 pupils to nurture confident and effective communicators. Through engaging lessons, pupils learn to work collaboratively while developing an appreciation of the English language.
Drama activities and role-play provide opportunities for pupils to express themselves creatively, strengthen their imagination, and build confidence in speaking and presenting before an audience.
P4 English Enrichment Programme: Presentation Skills
Designed to develop confident and effective speakers, the Presentation Skills enrichment programme equips selected Primary 4 pupils with essential communication skills. The programme focuses on key aspects of delivery such as articulation, vocal projection, body language, and clarity of speech.
Through interactive activities, pupils learn to present their ideas clearly, use persuasive language appropriately, and respond confidently in impromptu speaking situations, building poise and fluency in oral communication.
P5 English Enrichment Programme: Mentor Text Writing Programme
The Mentor Text Writing Programme supports selected Primary 5 pupils in refining and strengthening their writing skills. Pupils study well-crafted mentor texts to identify effective writing techniques and learn to apply these strategies in their own compositions.
Through guided practice, pupils develop their ability to elaborate ideas, build suspense, and slow down key moments in their narratives. The programme also reinforces narrative structure, essential story elements, and a range of effective story openings and endings.
P5 English Enrichment Programme: Broadcast Journalism
The Broadcast Journalism Workshop develops confident and articulate speakers who can communicate effectively in English. Pupils are equipped with essential presentation skills, including engaging an audience, using appropriate verbal and non-verbal cues, and crafting simple scripts.
Through hands-on experiences in public speaking and on-camera presentation, pupils build confidence, clarity, and poise in their delivery.
